- Correctional employees are highly trained, committed and productive members of Oregon’s workforce.
- Correctional employees model ethical and pro-social behaviors while holding offenders accountable for their actions and reducing the risk of future criminal behavior.

Another year has passed and it’s time again to honor all Department of Corrections (DOC) staff during National Correctional Employees Week, May 2 – 8.
We have asked a lot of you over the last year. The department's budget and inmate population growth has been uncertain, but you rose to the challenge and never lost sight of our mission or dedication to the work. This commitment makes the agency a success and one that we are proud to lead. We will continue to face both fiscal and operational challenges, but we can overcome these obstacles by working together.
As a DOC employee, it doesn't matter your job title– corrections officer, counselor, food services provider, maintenance worker, education provider, medical or mental health professional, support staff, parole and probation officer, manager, administrator, central office service provider or otherwise – you are an important part of Oregon’s public safety system.
Thank you for the hard work you do everyday. Your work often goes unnoticed, but you help to ensure a safe community for all of us.
With sincere thanks,
