Community corrections is a function of state government operated in partnership with local, county-operated community corrections agencies. Of Oregon's 36 counties, the Department of Corrections does operate community corrections in Linn and Douglas counties. Community corrections activities include supervision, community-based sanctions, and services directed at offenders who have committed felony crimes and have been placed under supervision by the courts (probation), the Board of Parole and Post-Prison Supervision, or the local supervisory authority (parole/post-prison supervision).

The Oregon Association of Community Corrections Directors has chartered a variety of statewide represented networking groups. These networking groups are tasked to work in a collaborative manner to address such issues as automation needs, data entry integrity, and fee collection uniformity related to the statewide corrections information system as well as best practices in the areas of transition and re-entry and supervision of sex offenders and family violence perpetrators.

The Interstate Commission for Adult Offender Supervision (ICAOS) was created to promote cooperation and coordination among the states and U.S. Territories in the transfer of supervised offenders across state boundaries. The ICAOS provides oversight and assistance in administering the Interstate Compact for Adult Offender Supervision, which was approved in 2002. All 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands are signatories to the Compact. This Compact has the authority of federal law and supersedes any state law to the contrary. All state and federal courts and administrative bodies must abide by the rules of this compact. No court or paroling authority may authorize an offender to relocate before acceptance by the receiving state.
